Paper Mode is a focused sideline surface, not a separate product. Switch back to the full app from the avatar menu whenever you need the complete editing and team workflow.

A tablet needs to run the Android operating system and have access to the Google Play Store so you can download and install XO Gridmaker. A reader without Google Play cannot use the supported install path for the current Android app.

- What is Paper Mode in XO Gridmaker?
- Paper Mode is XO Gridmaker's e-ink-optimized Android experience. It applies a high-contrast, low-motion display profile and opens Paper View, a focused playbook surface for searching saved plays, reading notes, stepping through animation, sketching a blank play, and entering Game Mode.
- What tablet do you recommend for Paper Mode?
- A tablet needs to run the Android operating system and have access to the Google Play Store so you can download and install XO Gridmaker. At this time, the only e-ink tablet we have tested is the BOOX Note Air5 C. Other Android e-ink tablets may work, but we do not recommend a specific model until we have tested it.
- Does an e-ink tablet need Google Play?
- A tablet needs to run the Android operating system and have access to the Google Play Store so you can download and install XO Gridmaker.
- Does Paper Mode work without internet access?
- Yes, after the Android app has synced the playbook. Paper View is included in the app's offline playbook workflow so saved plays and their diagrams remain available when the field has weak service or no signal.
- Can I draw plays in Paper Mode?
- Paper View is primarily for reviewing and calling saved plays. A coach or editor can also create a blank play and open a pen-first canvas for a quick sideline sketch. Switch to the full app for the complete editing workflow.
