Purpose Add an orbit-motion presentation to Counter from Spread Doubles. The back arcs behind the QB before the snap, then returns to the normal exchange and counter track. Teach the base Counter footwork before this change-up.
Motion and handoff begins on the right, arcs behind toward the left and stays moving away from the line at the snap. controls the snap before the exchange. After the snap, returns to the marked handoff on the right, briefly sells the left track, then redirects right behind the blocking. The reverse in direction is backfield footwork, not a second handoff.
Assignments
Coach it The diagram emphasizes backfield motion and the handoff; the individual line assignments above need a front-specific blocking install. Rehearse the two pullers together, then the QB/back exchange, before combining them. Keep the two end receivers on the line and only the back in motion.
Watch for A late snap that sends the back too far left, a runner rushing the exchange, or penetration through the vacated backside. Adjust the blocking call to the front rather than running into a free defender. Confirm the league's motion and eligible-player rules before use.
